New Board Members
The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court appointed two new members to the Clients’ Security Board effective December 2018. The new members are David R. Kerrigan, Esq. and Gary M. Weiner, Esq. Mr. Kerrigan practices with the law firm of Kenney & Sams, P.C. Drawing on his experience as a former Chief of the Government Bureau of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Kerrigan represents individuals and groups in challenges to state regulations and statues and in defending and asserting civil rights claims. His administrative law practice includes representing contractors, plumbers, electricians, engineers as well as other professionals in disputes with professional licensing boards. As a general commercial litigator, Mr. Kerrigan has brought and defended claims involving construction issues, employment disputes, and other business to business issues.
Gary M. Weiner, Esq. is the sole shareholder of Weiner Law Firm, O.C. located in Springfield. His primary practice areas are bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and collection. He has been on the panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts, Western Division since 1997.
The Clients’ Security Board consists of seven lawyers who are appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to serve as public trustees of the Clients’ Security Fund for five-year terms. The Board receives, investigates, and adjudicates claims filed by clients seeking reimbursement for theft of their funds by their lawyers who have been suspended from or resigned from the practice of law, or were disbarred, or are deceased.
